SBI SimplyCLICK Credit Card Review 2026 — Is It Still Worth It?

The SBI SimplyCLICK is one of India’s most searched entry-level credit cards — and for good reason. ₹499 fee, 2.5% return on everyday brands, and a fee waiver that’s actually achievable.

I’ve held this card for 6 years across 20+ credit cards — and I still carry it in my wallet today.

Joining Fee₹499 + GST
Welcome Benefit₹500 Amazon gift card on payment of joining fee
Renewal Fee₹499 + GST

Is ₹499 Worth It?

Year 1 — yes, without question. The Amazon voucher covers the fee entirely.

From Year 2 onwards, the fee is waived if you spend ₹1 lakh in your anniversary year — that’s ₹8,334/month. A realistic target for anyone using this as their primary online shopping card.

💡 Hitting the ₹1L fee waiver also unlocks a ₹2,000 Cleartrip/Yatra milestone voucher. Two benefits, one target.

Unboxing — New Design

SBICard SimplyCLICK Hands On Image after unboxing

SBI has quietly given the SimplyCLICK a serious design upgrade. The new card features a deep maroon finish with an embossed botanical pattern — easily one of the best-looking entry-level cards in India right now.

A few things worth noting from the physical card:

  • Network: Visa Platinum — not Visa Signature, so lounge access via Visa is not available
  • Contactless: Yes — the tap-to-pay symbol is on the front
  • Chip: EMV chip enabled
  • Name and card number: Printed on back (not embossed)

The welcome kit is clean and minimal — card, welcome letter, and T&C booklet.

💡 Redemption tip: Pick Swiggy, Domino’s, Cleartrip, or Yatra based on what you actually use — best rate at ₹0.25/point. Don’t use any of these? Go for the Amazon Pay eGift Card — works like cash across 10,000+ merchants. Avoid the Amazon Prime voucher — worst rate at ₹0.20/point, and you can get Prime cheaper on gift card sites like GyfTr.

Milestones

Spend online and unlock up to ₹4,000 in milestone e-vouchers per year automatically:

I’ve personally received both vouchers on this card — screenshot above shows the actual SMS notifications for ₹1L and ₹2L milestones. Both were Yatra vouchers in my case — SBI Card decides which brand you get, you can’t choose.

What to know before you spend:

  • Voucher is delivered via SMS with a redemption code.
  • Valid on Yatra or Cleartrip for flights, hotels, and holidays.
  • The ₹1L milestone also triggers your annual fee waiver — one target, two benefits: fee waived + ₹2,000 voucher.

No Lounge Access

The SimplyCLICK is an online rewards card — not a travel card. It does not offer any airport lounge access, domestic or international.

If lounge access is important to you, pair it with a dedicated travel card. We’ve reviewed the best options with zero spend conditions here → Best lounge access credit cards with no spend requirement.

Honest verdict

Pick SimplyCLICK if you’re starting your credit card journey or don’t have a credit history yet. Easy eligibility, low fee, and it qualifies for instant discounts during Amazon and Flipkart sale events — which the Cashback card doesn’t.

SBI Cashback is for everyone else. You can earn up to ₹24,000 cashback every year on any online spend. I use it for everyday spends and the Amazon Pay trick to force 5% cashback on fuel and utility bills — categories that are officially excluded. Result: ₹77,000+ cashback in 2 years. →Full SBI Cashback Card review.

I hold both — and both earn their place. SimplyCLICK for sale events and 10X partner spends. SBI Cashback for everything else. Zero overlap, maximum value.

Pro tip: Use the SimplyCLICK responsibly for 3 months, then apply for the SBI Cashback card. Your existing SBI relationship improves approval odds significantly.

My Experience

How I Got It

My first credit card — applied at SBI branch 6 years ago as an existing savings account holder. Approved with ₹54,000 limit. The application took 10+ days with zero proactive updates. Patience required.

Why I Still Hold It

One reason — instant discounts during Amazon and Flipkart sales. The SBI Cashback card gets excluded from these offers. SimplyCLICK doesn’t.

Points Revocation

I’ve been hit with reward forfeit fees multiple times. If you availed an instant discount on a transaction, SBI credits the points first — then revokes them the next month. Wait at least 3 months before redeeming points to avoid losing them.

Honest Pros & Cons

Pros

  • First year free — ₹500 Amazon voucher covers the ₹499 fee
  • 2.5% return on 10X partner spends
  • ₹4,000 in milestone vouchers annually
  • Easy eligibility — ideal for first-timers and thin credit files
  • Eligible for instant discounts during Amazon and Flipkart sales

Cons

  • Points revocation on instant discount transactions — a silent, recurring trap
  • Application process is slow — expect 10+ days with no updates
  • Low offline value — 0.25% return makes it useless for offline spends

Who Should Apply?

Apply If

  • You’re getting your first credit card
  • You have a limited or no credit history
  • You shop regularly on Swiggy, Myntra, BookMyShow, Cleartrip, or other 10X partners
  • You want to hunt instant discounts during Amazon and Flipkart sales
  • You’re building towards the SBI Cashback card — use this for 3 months first

Skip If

  • You spend heavily offline — 0.25% return is not worth it
  • You want straightforward cashback with no partner restrictions — get SBI Cashback directly
  • You already hold the SBI Cashback card and don’t shop during online sales
  • You need lounge access — this card offers none

Bottom Line

The SBI SimplyCLICK is the best first credit card in India — low fee, easy eligibility, and effectively free in Year 1. The 10X rewards on daily-use brands and ₹4,000 in annual milestone vouchers make it genuinely rewarding for online shoppers.

It’s not for heavy offline spenders or anyone wanting straightforward cashback. But as an entry point into the SBI ecosystem — and a stepping stone to the SBI Cashback card — it’s hard to beat at ₹499.

After 6 years, it’s still in my wallet. That says enough.

FAQs

Is the SBI SimplyCLICK credit card lifetime free?

No. The joining and annual fee is ₹499 + GST. However, the annual fee is waived if you spend ₹1 lakh online in the previous anniversary year. Some users have reported being mis-sold it as lifetime free — it is not. The fee waiver is spend-based, not permanent.

How do I claim the ₹500 Amazon welcome voucher?

Pay the ₹499 joining fee and make your first transaction within 30 days of card issuance. The ₹500 Amazon gift voucher is credited after the first transaction. Don’t skip this step — no first transaction within 30 days means no voucher.

Why is my application pending for so long?

This is the most common complaint on X. SBI’s application process can take 10–20 days with no proactive updates. The “representative will call you” status often lingers for weeks. If you’ve been waiting over 10 days, tag @SBICard_Connect on X with your lead reference number — that tends to get a faster response than calling customer care.

Why were my reward points reversed after redemption?

This happens when you earn points on a transaction where you also availed an instant discount. SBI credits the points first, then revokes them the following month — and if you’ve already redeemed them, a reward forfeit fee is charged to your account. It’s in the T&C but poorly communicated. Wait at least 3 months after points are credited before redeeming to avoid this.

Are there fees for add-on cards?

No joining or annual fee for add-on cards on the SimplyCLICK.

Can I upgrade to the SBI Cashback card after getting the SimplyCLICK?

Yes — and this is the recommended path. Use the SimplyCLICK responsibly for 3 months, maintain low credit utilisation, and pay on time. Then apply for the SBI Cashback card. Your existing SBI relationship improves approval odds significantly.

Why was my application rejected despite a good CIBIL score?

CIBIL score is just one factor. SBI also looks at income, existing credit utilisation, number of recent inquiries, and internal risk parameters. Holding too many cards or having recent hard inquiries can trigger a rejection even with a 750+ score. Wait 3–6 months before reapplying.

How do I redeem milestone vouchers before they expire?

The voucher code is sent via SMS at the time of milestone achievement with an expiry date. Redeem it on Yatra.com or Cleartrip directly — log in, enter the code at checkout. If expired, SBI Card’s track record on extensions is poor. Redeem as soon as you receive the SMS.
