HDFC Swiggy BLCK Credit Card Review 2026

Swiggy BLCK HDFC Bank Credit Card is basically my dedicated “food + Instamart + dining” machine – not a generic 5% cashback card for everything online.

I originally got the OG Swiggy card as LTF, and BLCK is the closest current version to that, so this review is based on my actual usage for food delivery, Instamart groceries, and occasional Dineout visits (around ₹10k/month), not just reading the brochure.

Let’s decode the card.

Overview

Card typeCo‑branded cashback
NetworkMastercard World
Cashback RateUp to 10%

🔒 Safe & Secure via HDFC Bank

I personally treat it as a specialist food and dining card that happens to give good extra cashback on certain online brands.

Eligibility

NationalityIndian (salaried or self‑employed)
Age (Salaried)21–60 years
Income (Salaried)Net monthly income above ₹1 lakh
Age (Self-employed)21–65 years
Income (Self-employed)Annual ITR above ₹12 lakh

Swiggy BLCK sits on the premium side of the Swiggy–HDFC lineup, so the eligibility is tighter than the base Swiggy/Ornge variant.

💡 Tip: If you’re not eligible for Swiggy BLCK, go for Swiggy ORNGE, then ask HDFC for an upgrade to BLCK after a few months.

Annual Fee

Swiggy BLCK is not a zero‑maintenance card on paper, but there are clear waiver levers:

Joining Fee₹1,000 + GST
Joining Fee WaiverSpend ₹75,000 within the first 90 days
Renewal Fee₹1,000 + GST
Renewal Fee Waiver₹2,00,000 annual spend

It’s effectively first-year-free if you can spend 75K in 90 days.

From 2nd year, hitting ₹2 lakh annual fee waiver (~17k/month) is doable if you’re foodie + online shopper.

Cashback Rates

This is where the card shines – and also where people often misunderstand it.

10% cashback on Swiggy

Screenshot of 10 percent cash back credited to my Swiggy HDFC credit card statement
  • Coverage: Swiggy Food ordering, Instamart and Dineout
  • Minimum transaction: ₹249 per order
  • Monthly cap: ₹1,500 cashback per billing cycle

If you’re spending around ₹10k/month on Swiggy (like I do), you’re already in the sweet spot to get meaningful value without trying to “game” the system.

5% cashback on online spends

Screenshot of five percent cash back on online spends credited to my Swiggy HDFC credit card statement
  • Coverage: 5% cashback on online spends – apparel, pharmacies, electronics, entertainment, travel, cabs, etc.
  • Minimum transaction: ₹100
  • Monthly cap: ₹1,500 cashback per billing cycle

👉 Note: The 5% cashback is driven by specific MCCs and merchant IDs from HDFC’s list, not “any random online transaction.”

So unlike SBI Cashback card, which behaves more like blanket 5% on most online spends, Swiggy BLCK’s 5% is strong but narrower – great when your brands line up, underwhelming when they don’t.

1% cashback on other eligible spends

  • Rate: 1% cashback on other eligible categories outside Swiggy and the 5% online list
  • Minimum transaction: ₹100
  • Monthly cap: ₹1,000 cashback on this bucket

No cashback on: Fuel, rent, wallet loads, utilities, insurance, EMI, jewelry, government and similar spends. So this is not a card you use everywhere.

Cashback Redemption: All cashback is calculated per statement cycle and directly credited to your card statement, no Swiggy Money and no manual redemption, which is a big usability win.

Other Benefits

Beyond raw cashback, Swiggy BLCK packs a few extras. I see them more as “nice to have” rather than primary reasons to get the card.

  • Cleartrip – extra instant discount and cashback on flights and hotels.
  • Nykaa – instant discount plus cashback on eligible spends.
  • Extra birthday discount on Swiggy Dineout on a minimum bill threshold.
  • Golf & lifestyle (Mastercard World): complimentary golf lessons, free and discounted green‑fee rounds across select courses.
  • Free Swiggy BLCK membership (3 months), you can get it for ₹1 on Swiggy, not worth it.

If you’re a typical Swiggy user, occasional Cleartrip/Nykaa/Dineout savings can add up; golf is obviously a niche perk.

My Recommendation

On pure cashback, HDFC Swiggy BLCK is the better card.

However, if you’re applying for your first HDFC credit card, I’d still recommend HDFC Millennia.

The reason is simple—Millennia is a core HDFC credit card, which can eventually make you eligible for premium upgrades like Regalia Gold, Diners Club Black, and Infinia.

Swiggy BLCK is a co-branded card, so it generally doesn’t offer the same upgrade path.

My Experience

Swiggy HDFC Credit Card Hands-On

I’ve used Swiggy BLCK as my main card for food, Instamart and occasional Dineout, usually around ₹10k/month. In most months, I get close to the ₹1,500 Swiggy cap without needing to inflate my spends, which makes the 10% bucket feel genuinely meaningful.

In my experience, Amazon and Flipkart purchases consistently earned 5% cashback, but Ajio and others got only 1%. That’s why I don’t treat it as a universal online cashback card like SBI Cashback.

However, during occasional sales, it offered me a double-dip benefit of instant discount + cashback.

Cashback posting has been smooth, sometimes instantly after transaction settlement.

Just keep in mind the category cashback caps and exclusions. As long as you stick to Swiggy and partner online brands, this card remains consistently rewarding.

Final Verdict: Should You Apply?

Yes, it’s a great card if you’re a foodie cum online shopper. It can give you up to ₹1,500/month on Swiggy and another ₹1,500 back on online spends. That’s decent for an entry-level cashback card.

In my own stack, the Swiggy card sits firmly as the dedicated food/dining card. I pair it with broader online cashback cards and a travel‑oriented card for lounges and flights – and that’s exactly how I’d recommend most readers to think about it too.
