IndusInd Tiger is lifetime-free and Axis Horizon costs ₹3,540 annually.
Though both cards are from different tiers, comparing them makes sense. IndusInd and Tiger Fintech designed the Tiger card well enough to compete with premium travel cards on lounge access, forex fees, and Air India miles.
Using both, I compared them based on my hands-on experience and research.
Quick Verdict ⚡️
Choose IndusInd Tiger for zero-cost benefits—lifetime-free, 10 lounge access per year, movie tickets and a simple 1:1 Air India transfer path.
Choose Axis Horizon if you’re a frequent flyer—the ₹3,540 annual fee unlocks significant value through 40 lounge visits, 5% accelerated travel rewards, and a stronger transfer partner network.
Or have both like I do. Stack the Tiger for everyday spends and the Horizon for travel-heavy benefits.
Quick Comparison
| Parameter | IndusInd Tiger | Axis Horizon |
|---|---|---|
| Network | Visa Signature | Visa Signature or Mastercard World |
| Card type | Entry-level lifestyle | Mid-premium travel |
| Joining / Annual fee | ₹0 — Lifetime Free | ₹3,000 + GST (₹3,540) |
| Annual fee waiver | Not applicable | None |
| Welcome benefit | None advertised | 5,000 EDGE Miles |
| Reward rate | 1–6 RP / ₹100 | 2–5 Edge Miles / ₹100 |
| Reward point value | Rigid; 1:1 only when transferred to Maharaja Club | Flexible; 1:1 across most redemptions |
| Lounge access | 10 / year (8 domestic + 2 intl.) | 40 / year (32 domestic + 8 intl.) |
| Forex markup | 1.5% + GST | 3.5% + GST |

Welcome & Renewal Benefit
| Tiger | Horizon | |
|---|---|---|
| Welcome benefit | None advertised | 5,000 EDGE Miles |
| Condition | — | First transaction alone must be ₹1,000+, within 30 days |
| Renewal benefit (Year 2+) | — | 1,500 EDGE Miles |
Horizon clearly wins here. 5,000 EDGE Miles, transferred well, is worth ₹5,000+ — enough to cover the entire first-year fee on its own. But from year two, you’re only getting 1,500 miles (~₹1,500) against a ₹3,540 fee.
While Tiger doesn’t offer a welcome bonus at all — its entire value proposition is the ongoing zero-fee structure.
Reward Points
| Feature | Tiger | Horizon |
|---|---|---|
| Base rate | 1 RP /₹100 (0–₹1L/year) | 2 EDGE Miles / ₹100 on all other spends |
| Accelerated rate | 2 RP / ₹100 (₹1L–2.5L), 4 RP / ₹100 (₹2.5L–5L), 6 RP / ₹100 (above ₹5L) | 5 EDGE Miles / ₹100 on Travel EDGE portal + direct airline sites |
| Special categories (Earns base reward) | Rent & real estate, education, govt. payment & taxes, insurance, utility bills | — |
| No reward on | Fuel, wallet, EMI, cash withdrawals | Fuel, rent, insurance, utilities, govt., education, tolls, wallets, EMI, cash withdrawals |
| Milestone bonuses | None | None |
Tiger rewards you by volume — spend more in a year, unlock a better rate.
What I like most about Tiger — you earn 1 RP per ₹100 in special categories like Rent & Real Estate, Education, Government payment & taxes, insurance, and utility bills.
While Horizon is focused on travel — you earn 5 EDGE miles per ₹100 spent only on travel bookings via the Axis Travel EDGE portal or direct airline websites.
Reward Rate Comparison
If you spend ₹6L annually outside Axis Travel EDGE:
| Spends in a year (₹) | Tiger | Horizon |
|---|---|---|
| 1L | 1,000 points | 2,000 Edge Miles |
| 1L–2.5L | 3,000 points | 3,000 Edge Miles |
| 2.5L–5L | 10,000 points | 5000 Edge Miles |
| 5L–6L | 6000 points | 2000 Edge Miles |
| Total | 20,000 points 🏆 | 12,000 Edge Miles |
Horizon earns more for the initial ₹1 lakh spent and matches the return for the next ₹1.5L spent.
But after ₹2.5L, Tiger becomes unbeatable. See the difference yourself in the chart below.

On ₹6L annual spends, Tiger earns 8000 points more than Horizon.
Reward Redemption
| Tiger | Horizon | |
|---|---|---|
| Cash/statement credit | ₹0.40 / point | ₹1/EDGE Mile |
| E-vouchers, travel bookings, etc. | ₹0.40 / point (Indus Moments portal) | ₹1/EDGE Mile (Axis EDGE portal) |
| Air India Maharaja Club | 1:1 | 1:1 |
| Other transfer partners | KrisFlyer (4:1) only | 19 partners, mostly 1:1 (KrisFlyer, Etihad, British Airways, etc.) |
| Redemption fee | ₹0 | ₹0 |
Horizon provides a consistent ~₹1 value per Edge Mile across portal bookings, partner transfers, and statement credits.
For example, you can redeem 5000 Edge Miles for a ₹5,000 Amazon Pay voucher in case you don’t want to transfer Miles to Air India points.
In contrast, Tiger’s reward points are only valuable when transferred to Air India Maharaja Club. Otherwise, the cash/voucher rate is poor at ₹0.40 per point.
Now that we’ve covered the points, let’s look at the travel perks—starting with lounge access.
Lounge Access
| Tiger | Horizon | |
|---|---|---|
| Domestic | 8/year (2/quarter) | 32/year (8/quarter, Visa variant) |
| International | 2/year | 8/year (2/quarter) |
| Spend condition | None | None |
| No. of participating lounges | 50+ (list of lounges) | 20 (list of lounges) |
| Add-on cardholder access | No (Primary only) | No (Primary only) |
Both cards have their own plus point.
- Axis Horizon has a huge 40 lounge visits annually.
- While Tiger has a broader network of 50+ lounges, which can be helpful at regional airports.
- Both don’t impose any spend condition to unlock lounge access.
Note: Both cards allow free lounge access to the primary cardholder only, excluding guests and add-ons. This is where the Scapia credit card shines, providing lounge and airport perks for add-on cardholders as well.
Forex Markup
| Tiger | Horizon | |
|---|---|---|
| Forex Markup | 1.5% + GST | 3.5% + GST |
At 1.5% + GST, the Tiger card significantly undercuts the Horizon’s 3.5% fee.
However, I recommend neither for frequent international use. If you’re planning a foreign trip, get a zero-forex credit card.
Other Benefits
| Benefit | Tiger | Horizon |
|---|---|---|
| Golf | 4 complimentary games/lessons a year | Not offered |
| Movies | BookMyShow BOGO, 2/year, up to ₹500 | Not offered |
| Concierge | 24×7 | 24×7 |
| Fuel Surcharge Waiver | 1% | 1% |
For a card that costs nothing, Tiger’s lifestyle perks stack up surprisingly well against a card charging ₹3,540 a year — Horizon simply doesn’t compete on golf access or movies, since its entire value proposition is built around lounges and mileage transfers instead.
My Application Experience

My journey to getting these cards was quite different for each.
Getting the Axis Horizon was effortless; I simply used the upgrade option within the Axis app. Since I already held the Flipkart and Axis Indian Oil cards, the system pre-approved me instantly with no additional income documentation or KYC required.
The IndusInd Tiger card, however, required more persistence. I was already a Platinum cardholder and requested an upgrade to the Tiger. My initial request was rejected, but I wasn’t ready to give up. I reached out again, making it clear I would escalate the matter to the RBI Ombudsman if my request wasn’t reconsidered. This push was effective—they reviewed my case, and I was finally approved.
A quick heads-up: you can hold only one IndusInd credit card at a time.
Final Verdict
IndusInd Tiger is a must-have — base reward points on utilities, free lounge access, movie tickets, golf, and 1:1 Air India points transfer make it the best lifetime free credit card in India right now. Apply IndusInd Tiger Card →
Axis Horizon is a mid-premium travel card — Add it when your travel booking volume is high enough to maximize the 40 lounge visits and accelerated travel rewards.
Ultimately, these cards aren’t competitors; they are complements. Tiger provides the stable, fee-free foundation, while the Horizon is better for travel-specific spend and number of lounge access it packs.
